Today I got the chance to write about an amazing woman, Kiana, Owner of Vieso, a handmade jewelry business she created in 2019. To her, starting wasn’t about the “business” aspect of it all. She wanted to try out something she loved. She told me about the beginning of her journey, starting off with making jewelry for her friends, then saying, one day, ” I put my earrings to display on a cookie sheet and it was like 10 earrings… and once I posted them it went off from there”. What keeps her inspired and happy is that “With jewelry, people are wearing your art… I think it is so cool that someone is walking around with my art piece on them. It’s like that feeling when someone puts your artwork up in their beautiful house on their wall“.
Kiana’s business features all handmade jewelry… yes, all handmade by her! At the time we spoke, she had earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Since then, she has released some new, beautiful pieces to add to the collection like rings, ear cuffs, and anklets. She even offers a “build your own vintage earring” option where you can customize your own earring. When I asked her further on who she makes jewelry for, her response was, “for a timeless soul“, and I think that statement couldn’t be any more true. Her jewelry is made to be worn by people of all ages and the range of “simple” to “funky” pieces makes It easy to find something you love.
Ever since I’ve known Kiana she has always been so sweet, humble, and kind. When I asked if there was anything she wanted her customers to know, she replied, “The idea that I make something and someone wants to wear it all day.. that’s such a cool concept”. She really puts so much care and time into every piece, it’s admirable how she does it all herself, especially trying to balance school, work, and personal life. She wants people to also know that, she writes all the notes for packaging, calculates prices, and makes sure she is being fair to you and herself. Paying for one of her products is not just paying for the piece, it is for all her time and research as well, not a machine.
We ended her interview with me asking how she got to where she is now, and how she wants her customers to feel. Kiana states “I am where I am now because of the amazing people I have to support my business. I can’t be where I am now without my customers and the beautiful humans I have met”. All she wants is her customers to feel confident, good, and feel that they have something special on them. Every piece is unique to the individual.
Kiana truly believes “Everything happens for a reason”, and that God has this plan for her. “Any religion you believe in, there’s something higher and bigger than us that knows so much more than we do”. -Kiana
